What does "B40" mean?

All products is handcrafted and handsewn by a women of the B40 community. The B40 community entails the lowest income group of Malaysia, consisting of 40% of the population. Through this platform, these women are able to earn a sustainable side income. It is said that poverty is the root of all social problems.

As simple as buying a cake for their children's birthday, or by being able to pay for her own health checkups - these ladies are now able to rely on themselves. The independence that we now and then take for granted. Being self-reliance helps build a stronger family unit, as studies show that unemployment or work stoppages of the men, led to women and children suffering the most. With 1 in 3 women experiencing physical or sexual violence.

Empowering Artisans of Malaysia

In aims to expand our impact, KTJ & Royale Culture aims to empower and uphold tradition and culture. The very meaning of it's own brand name  "ROYALE" & "CULTURE" brings about our efforts in uplifting the craft industry including artisans of traditional art. Our product range includes fabrics that are made using traditional hand-block-printing Batik technique.

What We Do

Our beneficiaries are mostly housewives, single mothers and underprivileged women who are situated at home because of family commitments, therefore they are unable to commit to a full-time job because of its fixed working hours. Earning any form of income becomes difficult for them. We discovered how each and every one of them needs assistance from many aspects; be it financial, educational or skill-development. There’s a saying that goes “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” This adage is aligned with the mission of KTJ. We train our community to sew corporate gifts and handmade items that are of commercial standards. We believe that providing tailors with the right tools and machineries is the first step to helping them uplift their lives, however without the business acumen of finding orders, tailors can be very discouraged with insufficient incoming orders. This is where KTJ comes into the equation. We created a holistic cycle to enable the community to have a secure and stable income over a longer period of time.
